Tech2Elevate Announces Opening of Ambridge Digital Learning Lab
Beaver County based nonprofit Tech2Elevate has announced the opening of their new Digital Learning Lab, in Ambridge, PA. The organization provides digital skills training and resources, and access to internet connectivity and digital devices. The lab will host 25 laptops and provide classes and one-on-one support to equip underserved community members with the digital skills needed to succeed in education, employment, and everyday life. The laptops are funded through the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) and the space itself has been created with the support of KINBER, a statewide digital inclusion nonprofit.
Tech2Elevate Founder and President Marcos Digliodo commented, "This is a truly transformative moment for both Beaver County residents and Tech2Elevate. We are incredibly grateful to the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority for providing 25 laptops, which are the foundation of our new Digital Learning Lab. We are also grateful to KINBER, our nonprofit partner for the project. This lab is more than just a room with computers; it's a gateway to opportunity for our neighbors. It's a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can gain essential digital skills and access computers and the internet so they can prosper in today's digital world."
KINBER is a statewide nonprofit organization committed to working with communities, governments, businesses, and anchor institutions to advance digital access and opportunities. KINBER provides Tech2Elevate with operational and organizational guidance, data management program support, and marketing expertise to amplify its work.
KINBER President and CEO Nathan Flood said, “KINBER is committed to building the capacity of organizations like Tech2Elevate so they can expand their impact and empower more individuals with the digital skills they need to thrive. The Digital Learning Lab is a prime example of what’s possible when organizations come together with a shared mission to bridge the digital divide. We’re proud to support Tech2Elevate in creating a space where technology becomes a tool for opportunity, education, and economic mobility.”
In addition to hosting the classes and workshops taught by Tech2Elevate’s Digital Coaches, the Digital Learning Lab will offer access to technology and resources to improve learning opportunities for Tech2Elevate clients. It will feature free access to high-speed internet, software, and expert guidance, helping individuals improve their digital literacy, complete online job applications, pursue educational goals, and stay connected.
Pennsylvania State Representative Robert Matzie attended the Open House, commenting "It’s a great day for Beaver County and for Pennsylvania to take advantage of some creative ways that ensure that our folks that are left out get the opportunity to learn. Digital equity is a huge component of teaching folks. The work that's going on here speaks to that, and so does the relationships formed between KINBER, Tech2Elevate, and the other partners that are involved."
Tech2Elevate is one of two Beaver County organizations to receive funding for the laptops under the Digital Connectivity Technology program, which is funded by the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund, established under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
