Real Applications of Virtual & Augmented Reality an 360 Video in Higher Education
This webinar featured Ben Fineman Program Manager, NET+ Video, Voice, and Collaboration Services, Internet2 and Jennifer Oxenford, Director of Community Engagement, KINBER who explored the boundaries of Real Applications of Virtual & Augment Reality in Research & Education. The research and education community has long been a leader in the use of virtual environments to further the academic mission, and new applications are emerging with wider access to commodity VR hardware. This webinar covered a brief evolution of virtual reality, augmented reality, and 360 Video and helped institutions new to these emerging applications understand the differences between them and what their potential impact is for education and research. Presenters also explored tangible, existing applications of virtual and augmented reality in our community, including a glimpse into the future Metaverse of networked virtual reality worlds. Participants also learned about VR/AR/360 video pilot partnership opportunities now being offered for Pennsylvania organizations to get involved in through KINBER.
