KINBERCON 2017 is a two-day event that brings together hundreds of Pennsylvania’s leaders in education, healthcare, economic development, libraries, public media, government and technology to share ideas and success stories about using next generation networks and technology. Back by popular demand in 2017 will be a streamlined schedule format featuring a day of breakout sessions across four tracks – General, Cloud, Security, and Internet of Things – followed by a full day of technical training opportunities. The conference will host dozens of panels and technical workshops as well as keynote speakers and an evening gala networking reception.

Conference Venue
The conference will take place at the Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 Willian Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA. Located in downtown Pittsburgh, the Omni William Penn Hotel is just 18 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport and 11 miles from Allegheny County Airport, and is the ideal location for KINBERCON 2017.

A block of discounted rooms has been secured for conference attendees at the Omni William Penn Hotel for Sunday April 2 – Wednesday April 5, 2017. Prior Conferences


KINBERCON 2016 was a record breaking event! The 2016 annual conference had our highest yet with nearly 300 registrants, 24 sponsors, 24+ concurrent sessions, 7 technical workshops, and by all counts was an overall success. Our thanks to the sponsors, speakers, and who attended and contributed to the discussion about how KINBER and the research and education network called PennREN are building community and fueling Pennsylvania’s technological revolution

The 2016 annual event was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, located on 237 S. Broad Street Philadelphia right along the Avenue of the Arts near City Hall and in the middle of the arts and entertainment center of the city.

Keynote and Featured Speakers
The event featured Florence Hudson, Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, Internet2 who provided the opening keynote for KINBERCON 2016 on Tuesday April 12. Other featured speakers include Glenn Ricart, Founder and CTO, US Ignite – Next Generation Apps for America; John Windhausen, Executive Director, Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB), and many others.

Senator John Yudichak Provides Closing Remarks at KINBERCON 2016

Diversity Scholarship
KINBER was pleased to offer four Diversity Scholarships aimed at broadening participation in the field of advanced networking technology at KINBERCON 2016. Each scholarship included participation in one technical workshop on Wednesday, April 13, and admission to the full conference program, including all meals and receptions on Tuesday, April 12. On April 19 & 20th, in Blue Bell, PA at the Montgomery County Community College, there was a Meeting with KINBER members and potential members. The result was a true collaboration!
